Incorporating Castelgarden

  • 1934 Stig Hjelmquist opens an importing / wholesale business dealing in table tennis products. Stiga is born in Sweden.
  • 1958 Stiga starts selling lawnmowers.
  • 1962 Castelgarden starts producing motorised garden products in Italy.
  • 1975 Stiga launches its first Park front mower.
  • Late 1980's Castelgarden rideon mowers arrived in NZ with the Twincut TC/102 models  -  the flagship 40" cut rear catcher rideon mower.
  • 2000 Stiga, Castelgarden, Alpina, Mountfield and Atco merge to form Global Garden Products (GGP).
  • 2006-07 New production plants constructed in Slovakia and China.
  • 2009 Chainsaw and Outdoor Power (COP) aquires the NZ distribution of Castelgarden.
  • 2016 COP becomes the sole NZ distributor of Stiga and rebrands from Castelgarden.
  • 2017 GGP becomes Stiga Group to expressly focus on its 'Premium brand.'
