• Oleo-Mac was founded in 1972 in Northern Italy's busy business sector of Reggio Emilia by businessman and expert Ariello Bartoli. It started to quickly produce good quality petrol chainsaws.
• 1978 another company (Efco) was created in the same area by Giacomo Ferretti. This one specialised in creating reliable brushcutters and trimmers.
• Late 1970's Oleo-Mac and Efco were introduced in New Zealand.
• 1992 Emak S.p.A. is formed by the merger of Oleo-Mac and Efco to enable growth and share expertise, knowledge and skills.
• 1995 saw the construction of a new factory to manufacture chainsaws and brushcutters.
• 1997 a lawnmower manufacturing plant was created in southern Italy.
• 1998-99 Emak was listed on the Milan stock exchange.
• 2004 A new manufacturing facility opened in China.
• 2020 Emak now has 4 commercial brands, 4 production facilities, 8 branches, 150 distributors, 115 countries covered, 22 product families and more than 250 models.
